Malware
Malware is any piece of software which is intentionally designed and written to intentionally damage devices like computers and servers, or to steal data. There are many types of malware on the market today including Trojan horses, ransomware, spyware, adware and more.
Phishing is the most common vector of placing malware on a person or business’ machine. Today’s social engineering makes it easier for hackers to appear legitimate, causing the untrained eye to click on a link that instantly downloads a virus. That virus then steals the data on the machine being used, and seeks a way to access the network, where it can gain access to other machines.
