Global Cloud Migration Efforts on the Rise

Aryaka’s 6th Annual State of the WAN report was released. Over half of the IT decision-makers from 1,600 enterprises worldwide who responded indicated an increase in global cloud migration efforts.

Many businesses and organizations worldwide already use cloud services. For most businesses, cloud migration is part of digital transformation. Getting rid of datacenters or, for smaller organizations, going from saving information on a physical server to embracing cloud solutions as a means to cut costs and increase security. The cloud migration movement continues at an unprecedented rate, according to a recent survey by technology company Aryaka.

According to the survey, a quarter of respondents have closed 25% to 50% of their office sites, and three-quarters of respondents said at least 25% of their workforce will remain remote permanently, with under a third expecting half of their workforce to remain remote on a permanent basis. This is part of what is pushing the cloud migration as well. With employees working remotely, everyone still needs secure access to business information.

The implications on DevOps teams is well-explained by DevOps.com:

“The implications of a shift to the cloud at this rate and level of scale are likely to have a profound impact on DevOps teams. While cloud infrastructure is designed to scale on demand, accessing applications across an SD-WAN can have a significant impact on application performance. The survey, however, finds only 29% of respondents are concerned about whether applications will perform properly. Nevertheless, well over two-thirds (69%) said there will be an increased focus on observability and control, while 42% noted identifying slow performance for remote and mobile users will be a key issue and 37% expected slow performance at the branch office to also be an issue. Lackluster application performance is a time sink, according to 42% of respondents.”

If you want your business to remain competitive, it is imperative that you utilize cloud services. Businesses that stay on pace with technology often fare better than those that don’t. If technology isn’t your forte, or you just aren’t sure where to start, seek out an expert. Find an outside source who knows the ins and outs of the industry who can help guide your decisions in an effective manner. Companies that provide cloud services often require contracts, so you want to be sure that you’re purchasing the right tools for your business.

Digital transformation and cloud migration will continue to be a trend in 2022 and beyond. There are a variety of providers which offer a variety of services and different approaches to cloud-based computing. It is important to educate yourself, even if that means consulting an expert, so that you know exactly what your business needs. Different approaches appeal to different businesses, and while each company will tout their way as the best, it’s up to you as the decision-maker to determine what is best for your company. One thing that applies to all businesses, though, is that utilizing the cloud is the next step in your technological future.
