They also rank based on what their service deems relevant to the search terms entered. The higher your website ranks, the closer to the top of the list on the return it is. The sites listed at the top of returns are typically the most clicked links on any given search engine site.

Search engines also use web crawlers or spiders to find new web pages on the internet. While longevity plays a part in the algorithms because search engines use database indexes to store web pages, the crawlers will locate new pages that are relevant as well. The biggest advantage to SEO is that it lets you share important information about your website with search engines.
