Remote work refers to the practice of working somewhere outside a company’s office. Some companies have an entirely remote staff, meaning the company doesn’t have a physical corporate office. Staff members can be located anywhere in the world and work anywhere they like. All they need is an internet connection.

Remote work can refer to working at home, a hotel, a personal office or even outside if the employee has a portable hot spot. While some companies offered a remote option to certain employees depending on position, COVID-19 saw this practice become commonplace as businesses closed their doors to people in the wake of the viral pandemic.
